At the meeting of the Trust last Wednesday, it was agreed that we would seek to have a continuing, ongoing and positive dialogue with the Chairman of the Football club. As part of adopting this stance, the Trust Board were requested to write to Jim, to seek a meeting with him so that we can obatin a better understanding of his immediate, medium and long term plans for the club and what options may be open to us both.
The Trust Board met this lunchtime and, amongst other matters, we discussed the content of the letter to Jim. This was agreed and this is reproduced in full below. The letter was e-mailed to Jim earlier today and a hard copy will also be sent on Monday via surface mail.
Plans for the future of NVFC
Dear Jim
After the events of the past two weeks, it won’t surprise you that Vics fans are concerned about the future of our Club. From the outside, the future looks far from bright and there is continued concern about where we will play for the remainder of this season and the next.
As we have explained at previous meetings, the aim of NVST is to seek supporter representation in the running of the football club, and to encourage the club to consider the needs of the fans and the community in its decision making. We currently represent over 20% of the average home gate and this number is increasing daily. We are not set up with the aim of fundraising and giving money to the Club with nothing in return, but we have come to the aid of the football club when requested . We want to assist the club with the aim of long term sustainability for generations of Vics fans in the future. With this in mind, we would like to seek information regarding your immediate, medium and long term plans and to investigate how we can continue to provide appropriate support to the football club, whilst seeking to meet our objectives.
Please would you be able to meet with representatives from both the Trust Board and the trust membership to discuss the future and what options are open to us both, to help to bring some stability to the club?
Our agenda would be to discuss the following;
1.What are your future plans for the football club, particularly in relation to an alternative ‘home’ ground, whether this be temporary or permanent?
2.Would you consider the opportunity for the supporters to take a part or controlling interest in the ongoing management and future of the club?
3.If so, what is the current financial position of the football club? (The Trust would require open access to the current and previous financial records of Northwich Victoria Developments and NVFC 2007)
You will have no doubt seen and heard many comments about the Trust wanting to set up a new Club or being against you. Please be assured that the Trust has one main aim, to preserve Northwich Victoria Football Club in a sustainable and transparent manner. We appreciate the good times the Club has seen, but are disappointed that the Club finds itself homeless, with an uncertain future. Our ideal would be to have the Club playing at the VS, which would be owned by the community, the Club sustainable and the current team challenging for the league title, and we want to work to ensure that the future is as near to that ideal as possible.
Whilst we understand the pressure that you must be under, we would be grateful if you could advise when you would be able to meet with us, so that we can provide an update to the supporters. We would like to meet in the next week if possible, i.e. before 10th February 2012. You can email us at

One further outcome of the meeting is that we are likely to hold another open meeting for all supporters on the evening of Monday 13 February. The exact timing and venue has yet to be decided, but it goes without saying that we will try to provide you with these facts as soon as we can.
