Performance against our aims this year is reported as follows:
1 – Strengthen the bonds between NVFC and the community and encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of supporters and community when making decisions.
We have held a number of meetings with Jim and other Club officials to discuss assistance to the club. This included providing assistance with the Party on the Pitch, which was a community event to celebrate the Royal Wedding.
There are a number of current issues, which have been presented to the AGM where we can help the club to engage with the community, e.g. school tours and the Victoria Cup
2 – Promoting, encouraging and furthering the game of football as a focus for community involvement.
This year we have continued to work with Supporters Direct and be involved in the Supporters Trust movement. Maggie attended the SD conference last year and a number of Board Members will be attending training and the 2011 conference next weekend in Chester.
We have supported youth football by purchasing shirts for the Vics Juniors and sponsoring a trophy in their 5 a-side tournament.
The Trust website has been upgraded this year, and the forum re-designed.
The Away travel service has been provided consistently throughout the season, including rescuing the players when the team bus broke down on the way to Whitby!
3 – We have an aim of supporter representation at the Club.
We are continuing to work with the Supporters Club, to break down the existing barriers. Examples include joint sponsorship at the beer festival, attendance at the Sports Quiz and sponsorship of the player of the season event.
4 - Fundraising / investment in the club
We have provided financial assistance to the Club in a number of ways:
Hiring hospitality boxes for silver members
Loan for a sit-on tractor
Weekly advertising in the matchday programme
Purchase of taps following the damage caused by the big freeze in the winter.
Additionally, we have been involved in a number of charity events including:
The Wich Walk from Northwich to Nantwich in support of St Lukes and the Club
The Rotary Club Swimathon
Trust membership has fallen to 66 members of which 49 silver members. The Trust Board is keen to improve the membership and would welcome any help or suggestions as to how we can appeal to new members.
