VICS head into their FA Trophy Second Round clash against Blue Square Bet South
strugglers Staines on the back of a run of one defeat in their last five games in all
competitions.

Following a 2-1 defeat against Stalybridge in the Cheshire Senior Cup Quarter Final, the Vics
have drawn with Chester (1-1) and Buxton (1-1), while also beating Ashton 3-0 in the league
and recording a 3-2 Doodson Sports Cup success against Newcastle Town earlier on this
week.
Twenty first place Staines have improved considerably in their last five matches in all
competitions – they secured a 2-1 win in their FA Trophy First Round replay against
Maidenhead and wins in the league against Hampton & Richmond (2-1) and impressively
against table toppers Woking (1-0), while losing heavily to Dover 3-0 and Hampton and
Richmond 4-1.
Vics have been mean at the back in the Trophy this season and have conceded just 5 goals
- in as many games, Staines have conceded just 2 goals but in only three games.
At the other end, Vics have racked up an impressive 16 goals at 3.2 per game in their current
Trophy run, which will be of comfort to boss Andy Preece. The Swans have scored 5 goals
but in three Trophy games.
A stand out statistic for Vics is the amount of goals they have scored in the last fifteen
minutes of games this season – they have found the net 16 times between the seventy fifth
and ninetieth minute, while Staines have won only four times all season in the league.
Vics have players cup tied for this match – both defender Louis Horne and midfield man
Sean Kinsella will sit the game out, while Steve Abbot and Tony Evans are still recovering
from long term injuries. Staines have a full squad to choose from.
