I thought I would write my own and ask him about the wage bill, any concerns he may have about playing at Stafford in the Evo-Stik Division One South and whether the team's efforts on the field will count for nothing again.

Hi Ben,

I've been reading your article and I wondered if you could clarify a couple of things.
"Mutch also said he would be careful with the wage bill for next season, after it was confirmed by the chairman, Jim Rushe, at the last open fans meeting, that the club would spend £3,500 on player salaries – the same amount as the previous campaign."

This amount of £3,500... is this weekly, monthly, whole-season or some other time period?
Is this for the entire squad or just for new signings?

Also, is this the total figure to be spent on salaries inclusive of PAYE, NI and employer NI contributions or is this the bottom line of what goes in players' back pockets, with PAYE, NI and employer NI contributions having to be found on top of this?

I appreciate that this isn't your conundrum, Ben :) I was hoping that you might have found this out when you spoke to Mr Mutch.

Thanks!

Where did you get your figures from Ben?

Can I just ask, at the meeting, did Jim state the wage WAS £3,500? or did he say it was the same as last season?. How do we 'know' that is the exact bill, I just wanted to know has Jim ever actually stated that is the amount or have people made up that figure?

Jason and Jamie,

It clearly says in the article that the £3,500 wage bill (which I'm presuming is per week)on player salaries was mentioned by Jim Rushe at the last open fans meeting. As far as I know, it's the same as last season.

Andy didn't deny this when I questioned him. I probably should have made it clearer in the article about what I meant by the £3,500 figure and I've just changed it.

If I'm being honest, it was difficult asking Andy some of the questions because they were probably more aimed at Jim Rushe. Andy made it clear that he was there to talk about the footballing sides of things but was still perfectly happy to answer my questions.

I told you that over facebook, that the questions you wanted to ask were perhaps more aimed at Jim

Yeah, but as Tony wrote on another thread, off the pitch issues are linked closely with the level of football we end up playing at. It's been shown with only one of the three relegations we have suffered in the past couple of years due to the performance on the pitch.

So I thought it was important to ask Andy questions on how he feels about that and the situation at the club with regards to Stafford, playing in the Evo-Stik South and the CVA. Fans are more interested in that than the playing side of things. I'm not being funny either but you have to take what Jim says with a pinch of salt considering his record.

But I'll speak to Jim if you want.
