DISTANT VICS NEWSLETTER
THE INDEPENDENT
NEWSLETTER FOR FANS OF NORTHWICH VICTORIA
NUMBER 313
2nd FEBRUARY 2006
TEAM NEWS
Vics could have a full squad available for the trip to Kettering on Saturday.
The main doubt is Jon McCarthy who has a slight hamstring strain. At the moment
it has not been confirmed whether Jonny Allan will appeal against the red card
he received in the melee following the final whistle at the Alfreton game which
also saw manager Steve Burr "sent off" plus Alfreton's Mark Hulme. Being
Conference North any suspension takes longer to implement than Conference
National so Jonny is available for Saturday. Vics will also have new loan
signing Dale Anderson in the squad after he joined form Burton Albion. Steve
says this is a player he has been after for a while so it remains to be seen
whether the m0ove becomes permanent at the end of the season. He plays either
midfield or as a forward and was playing well for Burton before an injury put
him out for a lengthy spell and he could not regain a regular spot. Kettering
will have £40,000 signing Anthony Elding in their team but no manager! Kevin
Wilson was sacked yesterday (see below). On Tuesday we are at home to in-form
Hyde United who have moved from a relegation spot to the fringe of the fight for
a play off place over the last 2 months their only recent defeat being a one
goal defeat at Stafford. Kick off on Tuesday is 7.30pm.
CLUB NEWS
The bus for Kettering leaves at 11.30am and the price is £15 and £12
Vics drew 3-3 with Stockport yesterday in a friendly that gave manager Steve the
chance to look at one trialist and also introduce Dale Anderson to the team.
Michael Carr and Keiron Charnock are joined in the England non-league team by
ex-Vics player Chris Blackburn
ROUND AND ABOUT
Kettering Town boss Kevin Wilson has lost his job for the second time.
Wilson was removed as boss when Imraan Ladak took over the Conference North club
in October, and ex-England star Paul Gascoigne was appointed.
But Gascoigne was sacked in December after just 39 days in charge, and Wilson
was brought back.
Wilson has now been sacked after just one win in 12 games, and Morrell Mason
will take over as caretaker manager.
Alan Biley will return to Rockingham Road as Mason's assistant.
Wilson previously managed Northampton Town for a two-year spell between 1999 and
2001.
Burton Albion striker Dale Anderson has joined Conference North promotion
hopefuls Northwich Victoria on a month's loan.
Brewers boss Nigel Clough allowed Anderson to join Vics after signing Christian
Moore from Kettering on loan.
Northwich boss Steve Burr said: "He's a good player who I've been after for a
while and I'm glad to get him."
Former Nottingham Forest player Anderson, 26, scored over 70 goals for Burton
since joining in 1999.
Accrington boss John Coleman has been named as the Nationwide Conference manager
of the month for January.
Coleman takes the award after guiding Stanley to an unbeaten run during January
and an 11-point lead at the top of the table.
Stafford Rangers boss Phil Robinson wins the award in Conference North after
keeping Stafford in top spot.
Gary Roberts of Cambridge City is the Conference South winner after a run of
four wins from five games in January.
Halifax Town boss Chris Wilder has moved to ease his goalkeeping problems by
signing Jon Kennedy on loan from Unibond League side Witton Albion.
Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates has completed the capture of versatile
midfielder Jake Sedgemore on a free transfer from League Two side Bury.
