NUMBER 302
17th NOVEMBER 2005

TEAM NEWS

Once again Steve has a full squad available apart from Mark Sale who serves the
last game of his 3 match ban for his sending off at Hucknall.

Dave Moss, talking to The Chronicle says that they made a decision to start
using the strength of the squad as a whole at Lancaster but that the players who
missed out last week could return this week. Saturday's opponents are Moor Green
who are a South Birmingham team who are mid table and it is their first ever
visit to play Vics in a league match.

CLUB NEWS

Lots of good publicity for the club this week. Paul Brayson became the first
player to receive 2 "Player of the Round" awards in the FA Cup in the same
season. It is hoped that he will be presented with his award, before Saturday's
game, by Duncan Bailey of the Unibond League and possibly one of the 2 local
MP's.

Steve Burr was very enthusiastic about his new role as assistant to Paul
Fairclough with the England semi-professional team. He got off to a winning
start as England beat Belgium 2-0 and both Michael Carr and Keiron Charnock
impressed.

I am sure everyone knows by now that Vics have been drawn away to Hucknall in
the FA Trophy. The game will be on 26th November and coaches will leave at noon
with the prices being £11 and £9. In the FA Cup our opponents the following
Saturday were confirmed on Tuesday when Woking beat Southport. The buses for
that match leave at 8.30am and the cost is £18 and £16.

Rearranged fixtures are as follows:

Workington (H) Tuesday 6th December

Hyde (H) Tuesday 13th December

Whilst not confirmed, yet, the probable day for the away game at Harrogate will
be 17th January.

VICS IN THE NEWS

Steve Burr, back from the trip to Belgium, is enthusing over the whole
experience. He said that everything about it was so professional and first
class. He enjoyed working with Paul Fairclough and an excellent group of young
footballers who all handled things well and, as such, were a credit to the
Conference. Steve said that Kieran Charnock and Michael Carr had excellent games
and he was immensely proud of them both.

Paul Brayson has made FA Cup history by becoming the first player ever to win
The FA Player of the Round award twice in one season. Brayson, who scored a
hat-trick in the shock 3:1 win over Morecambe, was nominated for The FA Player
of the round award, having already been selected for The FA Team of The FA Cup
following his second qualifying round hat-trick in Northwich 4: 1 win over
Frickley Athletic. The Player of the Round vote saw Brayson chasing the lead at
the beginning of the week as Colchester Uniteds Mark Yeates looked like he was
set to win. But after catching the on-loan winger from Spurs on Friday, Brayson
stormed ahead. A weekend of fans voting saw Paul Brayson poll 32 per cent of the
47,000 votes cast to win The FA Cup Player of the Round award for the second
time in the competition. Colchester Uniteds Mark Yeates missed out on the award
by only a slim margin, ending with 29% of the vote. Yeates was closely followed
by Weymouth goalkeeper Jason Matthews who polled 28 per cent with Stevenages
George Boyd and Burscough captain Karl Bell claiming 5 per cent of the vote
each. In addition to being crowned FA Cup Player of the Round, Paul has also
joined the Team of The FA Cup for the second time, which guarantees attendance
at The FA Cup final and a half-time introduction to the crowd. Finally, Paul has
won a further 1000 pounds worth of UMBRO football kit for a local school, club
or organisation of his choice. The Team of The FA Cup comprises Player of the
Round winners from the First Qualifying Round to the Semi Final. In the last two
years several Premiership players have featured in the team alongside non-league
players, including Jose Antonio Reyes, Freddie Ljungberg, Shay Given and Ruud
van Nistelrooy. Gosport Boroughs Jamie Laidlaw, Leamingtons Alex Rodman and
Eastbourne Boroughs Stuart Tuck are the other Player of the Round winners in
this seasons Team of The FA Cup and will enjoy VIP attendance at the 125th FA
Cup final at the new Wembley Stadium next May.
